About San Diego Rod and Reel Club!

The San Diego Rod and Reel Club was established in 1982, a not for profit saltwater fishing club. The purpose of our club is to be a leader in the conservation of fish stock while promoting the future of fishing, family, fun and friendship. We promote and enhance the sportsmanship of recreational fishing, safe boating, and angling competition among club members. We bring fisherman, families, and friends together share similar experiences, and ideas.

We offer our members up to date information for anglers, social activities, club tournaments and monthly meetings that are informative and a lot of fun. Being part of a fishing club gives you access to anglers that have a wealth of knowledge in the area of sport fishing. We also have top experts speak at our meetings, so we guarantee that you will increase your fishing prowess by joining our club. Our fishing tournaments are for all ages that are held throughout the year for cash and prizes.

Community Events

The San Diego Rod and Reel sponsors a number of community events each year. The club also has a program to encourage youth angling participation. We sponsor saltwater fishing trips for children in our community. We support The Lake Poway Fishing Derby, The Lindo Lakes Fishing Derby, The Shelter Island Fishing Derby and the crystal Pier Fishing Derby. We help man the fishing pens every April at “Day at The Docks”,

Our Big Fish Tournament and Seminar are our annual events. They are always geared toward benefiting a charitable organization that support children fishing events. In addition, some of the proceeds from the our Big Fish tournament are used to help sponsor children events in our community in fresh water derbies and saltwater fishing trips. We are not just about fishing, but we are also about giving back to the community

Monthly Meetings!

The San Diego Rod and Reel Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the beautiful setting of the Bali Hai Restaurant overlooking San Diego Bay, in Point Loma. At each meeting we usually have a well renowned guest speaker from the fishing world to share their thoughts, tips and stories. We also have great raffle with a bunch of good prizes for the taking. Raffles typically have over 1000 dollars in merchandise. Plus you’ll find the friendliest group of fishing people around.

So come on down and be our guest and meet the great people that make up the San Diego Rod and Reel Club and get 10 free raffle tickets for your first time visit.

Our very busy schedule includes at least 9 tournaments throughout the year. Our tournaments target almost all popular species available locally. These tournaments include Annual Bay Bass Tournament, Bottom Fish Tournament, The Triple B (Bass, Bonito, and Barracuda) Tournament, Offshore for Tuna, Albacore, Dorado and Yellow Tail. We even have a lobster tournament every winter! And last but not least, our annual Big Fish Tournament hosted every August!

Our monthly newsletter is available electronically and/or by mail and gives members information on upcoming club events as well as tournament results, the Weigh Master’s report, timely articles and many other items of interest to the active angler. The latest club information can also be obtained by visiting our website at www.SanDiegoRodandReel.com.

March Swap Meet!

The San Diego Rod and Reel Club has an annual swap meet in March. Collect your unwanted gear and bring it to the meet. It is a good way to clean out that garage and put some money in your pocket.

Angler recognition is an important part of our club. Trophies and plaques for adults and juniors are awarded in many different categories.
