San Diego Rod and Reel Club

Southern California's Premiere not for profit Fishing Club offering  club memberships, up to date information for San Diego's Anglers. We hold many fishing tournaments throughout the year for cash and prizes. The San Diego Rod and Reel Club in southern California offers fishing tournaments for all ages such as the Spotted Bay Bass Tournament, Chuck Byron Tournament, Children of the Troops, Big Fish Tournament, Rock Cod Tournament, Team Fishing, Poway Fishing Tournament, Triple B Bass Tournament, Yellowtail Tournament, Bass Tournament, Dorado Tournament and many others.

The San Diego Rod and Reel Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the beautiful setting of the Bali Hai Restaurant overlooking San Diego Bay, in Point Loma. The meetings are full of fun and informative stuff for the serious angler to the club youngsters (yes kids are welcomed) who are assured a winning raffle ticket from the kids raffle.

At each meeting we usually have a well renowned guest speaker from the fishing world to share their thoughts, tips and stories and a great raffle with a bunch of good prizes for the taking. I know of someone who walked away with a TLD 20 Two speed reel a $320 value because he purchased $20 in raffle tickets. Not bad eh? Plus you'll find the friendliest group of fishing people around.

So come on down and be our guest and meet the great people that make up the San Diego Rod and Reel Club.

Report lost fishing gear

Lost fishing gear - both commercial and recreational - sits on the seafloor, gets caught on rocks, and floats in the water column. Lost gear can remain in the marine

environment for years, harming habitats and continuing to catch fish and invertebrates.

Please report sightings of lost recreational and commercial fishing gear. Anonymous reports are accepted.

1-888-491-GEAR or www.lostfishinggear.org

New Dates For Free Fishing Day -- Fourth of July and Labor Day

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) today announced new dates for Free Fishing Day in 2009. Free Fishing Days will be the Fourth of July and Labor Day,

Sept. 7 when DFG will waive the license requirement for citizens 16 or older. On those days people will have the opportunity to fish on all freshwater and ocean

waters in California.

“There are fish in many California waterways and urban lakes that can make a very fun day for beginning anglers and experienced hands alike,” said David Moore,

DFG Interpretive Services Supervisor. “For those out camping near rivers or recreating at some of our state’s large reservoirs, Free Fishing Day on both the Fourth

of July and Labor Day offers a great opportunity for families to enjoy a hands-on experience with nature."
